PACKAGING DESIGN
WHAT IS PACKAGING DESIGN?
The wrapping material used to cover or preserve an item that identifies, contains, describes, displays, protects, promotes and otherwise make the product marketable.
Packaging is more than just your product's attractive face. Your package design may affect everything like breakage rates in shipment to whether stores will be willing to stock it in their shelves.
IMPORTANT FEATURES OF PACKAGING DESIGN
Labelling
Labelling. You may be required to provide necessary information on the label of your
product before the distribution of the product takes place. For example, labels of food
products sold in grocery stores must contain information about their ingredients and
nutritional value.
Size
Bulky or heavy packaging may add too much to transportation costs. So, if your product is to be shipped to far away distribution points, then it has to be of the right size and shape.
Opening
The opening of the product shall be easy to open and close during sample check. Confusing process of opening of packages can make a consumer not to buy your product.
If, your product should not be opened by anyone other than the purchaser then the packaging will be designed in a way resist and reveal tampering.
Durability
Many products must endure rough handling from the production line to the ultimate customer. If your product is of a kind that has to be preserved and protected then the packaging should be of the best quality.
